Come April 22nd and it would be four decades since Earth day took genesis in the United States. Since then it has gone international through the Earth Day network comprising of NGOs, quasi-governmental agencies, local governments, activists and nature lovers.
2010 Earth Day celebrations In India saw lots of activity ranging from tree plantings, nature walks, film shows, seminars, rallies and go-green campaigns that were aimed at engaging all levels of civil society to ensure a healthy and sustainable planet for all.

A better planet is not a single day activity for everyday is Earth Day. Commemorating Earth Day every year (April 22nd) is more of a promise to oneself, a wake-up call to consistent action, a clarion cry to protect our future and a reminder to oneself that the journey is more important than the destination. Everyone on earth has a moral right to a healthy sustainable environment.
This year Earth Day’s theme is “A Billion Acts of Green” the largest voluntary environmental action campaign in the world. Individuals, organizations and corporate entities can take a pledge in honour of earth day here . The Goal is to reach one billion acts of green.
What is your Green Act, this Earth Day? What actions do you propose to take? It can be as simple as planting a tree in your garden or neighborhood. I for one plan to use the cycle to commute more. Do share your Act of Green in the comments section.
Totally agree. Every day is EARTH day. Just like every day is WORLD PEACE DAY!
Love the message.
Peace,
