Fight Wildlife Poaching in Sumatra – Time to vote for Trevor Frost

March 19, 2011 by 2 Comments

All human actions have one or more of these seven causes: chance, nature, compulsions, habit, reason, passion, desire.
Aristotle

Brew all of them together, add an insatiable urge to make a real difference to wildlife conservation and you have a noble cause – Helping park rangers protect endangered species from poaching in Sumatra, Indonesia. A cause that needs concerted support,a cause that creates a chance to help wildlife rangers get proper support, a cause that catalysts small efforts to give back to Mother nature, a cause that stoops to conquer in making desire, reason and passion a compulsion to make positive change happen.

You too can make change happen in little ways. You can can help the endangered Orangutan and the Sumatran Rhino protect themselves from man’s greed. It will not take much of your time. Just a vote. A vote in the name of Trevor Frost, explorer, field biologist, photographer, and conservationist who has spent the last 5 years working with scientists and conservation groups to save endangered wildlife and wild places.

Well, to put things in clear perspective, the Expedition Granted contest by National Geographic offers Young explorers a chance to win a unique opportunity – an expedition to make a huge difference in the cause they are most passionate about. The winners get funded $10,000 to make their causes reach fruition.

And Trevor Frost is in the race, too, hoping that his dream expedition to protect wildlife in national parks from poachers in Indonesia comes true. And he needs your vote to make it happen.

Why vote for Trevor Frost?

In his own words,

Around the world wildlife rangers dedicate themselves to protecting wild places and biodiversity at the risk of their own lives and for little to no money. If we don’t ensure proper support for these individuals we risk losing the species and places that we have already fought so hard to protect. Voting for this project will allow you to play a part in both exposing the need for greater support of wildlife rangers and directly providing increased assistance to them worldwide. In helping wildlife rangers, your vote, will also protect endangered areas and species that are important to humanity.

Trevor has led eight international expeditions to four continents, in places like Congo, Patagonia, and the Canadian wild. He’s most proud of his work with the International League of Conservation Photographers and a number of Canadian conservation organizations that together helped secure a permanent ban on mining in the Flathead River Valley of British Columbia.

Trevor’s expedition to Indonesia would use science and media to ensure that greater support for park rangers is both provided and maintained so these ecosystems will have the opportunity to thrive.
